The June 25, 2013 cyberattack wave targeted South Korean government, political, military, and media-related sites with DDoS, outages, defacements, data exposure, and destructive malware timed to the Korean War anniversary. Technical evidence included compromised SimDisk update infrastructure, C&C-directed bots, malicious website scripts, Apache Range DoS activity, Tor-based component retrieval, service-style malware execution, password changes to "highanon2013," desktop changes, and MBR/file destruction against affected systems.

Yesterday, June 25, the Korean peninsula observed a series of cyberattacks coinciding with the 63rd anniversary of the start of the Korean War. While multiple attacks were conducted by multiple perpetrators, one of the distributed denial-of-service (DdoS) attacks observed yesterday against South Korean government websites can be directly linked to the DarkSeoul gang and Trojan.Castov.

In the same day (that marked the 63rd anniversary of the start of the Korean War) the websites of South Korea's presidential office, another government agency and some media organizations are take down. Although the attentions are directed to the Anonymous collective, they deny being involved. Suspects go towards the so called DarkSeoul Gang.
