Unidentified North Korean Hackers Gained Access to an Unnamed Company and Stole Data from the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) Energy Company in September 2020 and June 2024 · 01.09.2020
Unidentified North Korean hackers gained access to an unnamed company and stole data from the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) energy company in September 2020 and June 2024, various media reported without referring to a specific source. The data theft included 110,000 technical sources of water technology and nuclear data. The leaked data mainly related to older prototypes, such as the APR 1000 and APR-1400. The hack was attributed to North Korea due to using a password for the management account with system privileges. The incident was reported by the head of the Congress's Science and Information Communications Commission and the Democratic Council for the People's Republic of Korea's CHOI on 9 and 10 October 2024, respectively.
